Session 11/13

Page 1/4: Promoting social, emotional and cognitive learning

Promoting social, emotional and cognitive learning

Competences to be exercised:
•
Staff understanding the learning problems of children exposed to negative care prior to admission.
•  Finding activities and practical ways to support learning processes.
•  Help children overcome learning process problems.

Theme of the session:
In session 11 we will explore how cognitive learning (school disciplines: mathematics, language, etc.) is connected with pre-school social life.

The question in this session is: how do we make a social framework that allows children to learn the basics of going to school, university and other education?

Aims of the session:
Finding ways to support children’s cognitive ability and social competences required for learning purposes.

Please use 15 minutes (or as much time as needed) for summing up what you worked with between the last session and this one:

• Did we succeed in doing what we planned?
• What was easy to do and what was difficult?
• What did we learn from doing what was planned?
• What can we do better next time you work between sessions?

Please remember: it is okay if you experienced problems – this is a new way of working, and it takes some exercise and experimenting before it becomes routine.
