The experts and foster carers who made this program do not know everything and in particular they do not know you, your individual foster family or the individual child in your care.
Every foster care and child is unique. Nevertheless, the training can give you a lot of knowledge about foster care works in general, but only you know your foster care and your child – so you are the expert of this individual and unique foster care.
The program is not something you just learn and do. We present the general knowledge and then you actively decide how to use it and find your own models for practices along the way. We hope this responsibility will make you feel your job more interesting.
DO YOU HAVE ANYONE YOU CAN TALK TO ABOUT BEING A FOSTER PARENT?
Many foster parents live far from the cities and have problems and worries because they work alone. In this training, you will get support from your instructor and the training, and you will have a great opportunity to create a social network with the other foster parents in this training programme – a network you can use for support even after the training has ended. So, please talk to the others foster parents and openly discuss any problems with them and the instructor.
